• Esta es una plática introductoria a la corrección de textos.
• Se impartirá el 18 de septiembre de 2024, a las 16 horas en horario del Pacífico.
• La presentación es gratuita y se grabará.
• Será una capacitación vía con dos instructoras presentes.

Descripción

• Se expondrá de qué se trata la corrección de textos y se explicará la diferencia entre edición sustancial, corrección de textos, corrección de pruebas y corrección de traducciones.
• Al final de la charla, el participante tendrá claro los diferentes tipos de corrección y las características de cada una de ellos.
• La charla es de sólo una hora y no amerita descanso.
• Se abrirá espacio para preguntas al final.

• This is an introductory talk on text editing Spanish texts for use in the United States.
• The talk will be given on September 18, 2024, at 4 PM Pacific time.
• The presentation be free and will be recorded.

Description

• We will talk about editing and proofreading and explain the difference between substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, and translation proofreading.
• At the end of the talk, participants will be able to identify the different types of editing.
• The talk will be one hour long with no breaks.
• There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

Expositoras / Presenters:

Lilia O'Hara

Lilia O'Hara has a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

She has been a copy editor for more than 25 years and has edited magazines, books and newspapers in Mexico and in California, United States.

She has been a professor at UNAM, the Universidad Iberoamericana campus Tijuana, and has given workshops on the use of Spanish in the media in the United States in different U.S. cities.

Helen Eby

Helen Eby is a certified English to Spanish translator and interpreter. She has a degree in Education granted in Argentina.

She has been a translator for over 30 years, and has included editing in her services for that time. She has given workshops to translators in Latin America and in the United States.
