Training and Experience

Studies in:

  • Language
Other educational background
I took Calculus classes at U Mass Lowell.

I was the technical contact for the ASTM Translation Standard Guide. In that process, I realized anew the importance of editing. I began to attend copy editing conferences, and realized that much of the work I do as a translator, in the final steps of my translation, is editing. As a result, I have taken some specific trainings in this area:
an ACES boot camp in copy editing and
two Cálamo y Cran courses in Spanish editing,
conferences by ACES and the EFA.

This has led to significant improvement in my work and in the way I can communicate with my clients, many of whom are competent editors of English text.
About You (Please limit to 150 words)
I am a certified translator (by ATA, English <> Spanish), certified court interpreter and certified medical interpreter. I prepare interpreters and translators for certification exams and teach professionals how to write better Spanish.

I am also a member of the professional associations that apply to my work and taken advantage of the continuing education they offer. In the editing field, they are the American Copy Editors Society, the Editorial Freelancers Association, and the American Medical Writers Association.
Additionally, I have taken Spanish editing courses with Cálamo y Cran.

As an editor, translator and interpreter who is active in the professional community, I can meet your needs and apply the latest standards in Spanish editing.
